We chose to use the Sollerman score to assess the outcome because it involves performing common daily tasks during which different finger grip patterns are assessed. The scoring system is simple to perform, is reproducible and reliable, and has been validated.
It has been used in the assessment of hand functions in post-surgical patients with tetraplegic conditions, chronic stroke, after replantation or revascularisation of upper extremity injuries, Dupuytren's contracture and in patients undergoing long term haemodialysis. The 20 subtests comprising the Sollerman grip function test 1. Put key into Yale lock, turn 90" 2. Pick coins up from flat surface, put into purses mounted on wall 3.

CONCLUSIONS—Hand dysfunction is a common finding among patients undergoing long term haemodialysis. The Sollerman test accurately reflects patient function as measured by HAQ, VAS-F, and grip strength, but less so pain. s=−0.34, p<0.05), and JAMAR score (r s=0.57, p<0.05). Sollerman scores were highly correlated between dominant and non-dominant hands (r s=0.69, p<000005). Conclusions—Hand dysfunction is a com-mon finding among patients undergoing long term haemodialysis. The Sollerman test accurately reflects patient function as measured by HAQ, VAS-F Sollerman score was reduced by mean 15% (P < 0.005) in this subtest and time taken increased by mean 213% (P < 0.005).

Pick up coins from purses; 5. Lift wooden cubes over edge 5 cm in height; 6. The test score correlated well with the accepted international functional classification of the patient's arm (r = 0.76, p < 0.001). The mean test score in the arms of patients lacking sensation was significantly lower than in those with tactile gnosis (O:1-3 compared with OCu:1-3, p < 0.001).
Sollerman score is 9.7% less in rheumatoid arthritis hands than a healthy volunteer using the glove. CONCLUSIONS. The glove could, therefore, be used to guide future design of tools and aides that accommodate for hand disorders.

Hand function was assessed by the Sollerman hand function test. Fingertip to palm (FTP) distance measurement, grip strength and the Disability Assessment of Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire scores were also recorded.
Also highly significant was subtest 8, which involved turning nuts on a bolt and reflects pulp pinch, lateral pinch and tripod pinch grip. Fig. 1 . Eight main hand-grips into which a normal grip pattern can be divided.
